Customer Support and Training Engineer

CBNL is recruiting for a Customer Support and Training Engineer to work in our Johannesburg offices.

This role is a mix of office and field based activity and is a full-time role

Based with the Services team, the Customer Support and Training Engineer will have a dual role to both provide 2nd and 3rd line support in person, over the phone and via e-mail, and to be our primary training resource in SA and, where necessary, globally, to deliver bespoke training courses to technical audiences on their premises.

The successful candidate will ideally have the following qualifications and experience;

  • Bachelor’s or Masters in computer science, telecommunications or network engineering or related discipline or demonstrated equivalent work experience
  • Minimum five years’ experience in radio, ethernet, IP, E1 and ATM technologies from 3.5GHz to 60GHz
  • Previous success in providing 2nd and 3rd line support
  • Knowledge and experience of providing product training to customers
  • Knowledge and understanding of setting up IP networks in WAN and LAN environments
  • Knowledge and understanding of setting up and testing TDM networks
  • Knowledge of third party products associated with WAN, LAN, WiMAX and 2G/3G/4G deployments
  • Experience of Linux and Windows operating environments, support and installation
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, including technical vocabulary.

  • Able to work on your own initiative but aware of when to seek advice 
  • Able to communicate ideas and solutions to field staff and customers clearly via phone, or written documentation
  • Professional style, self-motivated and organised.
  • Physically able to undertake the installation, maintenance and problem solving associated with this role
  • Able to undertake regular international travel (up to 2 weeks per month).
