Purpose of job

As Marketing Director of CBNL you will lead all aspects of the B2B marketing function for the company. This includes overall responsibility for developing the marketing strategy and budget, in addition to leading the delivery of all tactical elements.

You will utilize your broad B2B technology marketing experience to position the company as a leader in the global communications market, developing impactful thought leadership campaigns and bringing new leads to the business.    

The successful candidate will have a sound commercial aptitude, the creativity to bring new ideas to the company and the ability to drive initiatives through from inception to completion.  

As the marketing lead, you will establish and build highly successfully working relationships with all parts of the business; from the CTO and R&D Group, to the Sales Team, CEO and management team as a whole. CBNL has an open-minded culture that allows a high degree of autonomy, allowing the successful candidate scope for strategic influence.

Furthermore, the Marketing Director will build and manage a pool of high performing suppliers, including PR, graphic design, videos production and event agencies.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategy, budget, planning - work closely with the Management Team to understand the business objectives and create an annual marketing strategy that drives tangible value for the company. This includes working with the CFO to build the marketing budget and devising a tactical plan for delivery
  • Brand - as the brand custodian, you must ensure consistent use across the organisation and refresh and renew components of the brand as appropriate
  • PR - develop and lead PR campaigns which drive positive media coverage and awareness of CBNL in key markets and establish the company as a thought leader in its fields. This will span trade, business and local press, in additional to industry analysts
  • Content - use your exceptional writing skills and creative flair to create impactful content, from press releases and case studies; to the annual report and investor communications.
  • Events - work with the Sales Team to develop an annual events program that strengthens CBNL’s thought leadership and brings new business to the company. This will include market research into suitable events, working with conference producers to secure CBNL speaking positions, tactical sponsorship, exhibition stands, product demos and networking events. Most notably this includes CBNL’s presence at Mobile World Congress, which is one of the company’s largest marketing projects
  • Lead generation - work closely with the regional business development leads to create and deliver a range of lead generation campaigns, bringing qualified prospects to the sales funnel
  • Digital - utilize your expert digital marketing skills to develop and manage the CBNL website, create impactful video content and create social media campaigns
  • C-Level support - provide expert communication support to the Management Team and CEO. This will include interview preparation, creating written content and PowerPoint presentations for a range of audiences.
  • Supplier management - source and manage a high performing marketing agencies

Education and qualifications

Essential:

  • Marketing degree or professional qualification

Highly desirable:

  • CIM qualified
Technical competencies

Essential:

  • Excellent copywriting skills and a flair for creative writing
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in managing website CMS software
  • An eye for design and ability to create graphics for use across a range of marketing channels
  • Experience in managing corporate social media channels and online campaigns (SEO, PPC)

Highly desirable:

  • Excellent skills in the Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, etc)

  • Creativity – a flair for bringing technology to life and the ability to identify new marketing channels and opportunities that drive value for the business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - can build meaningful relationships within a short period of time with internal stakeholders, agencies and the telecoms media
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, presentation
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and proof reading skills
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight timescales
  • Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and aware of when to seek advice
  • Flexibility - on occasion, be willing to work long hours if the needs of the company require it
  • Must be able to travel - including international travel if necessary

 

Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in marketing, a significant proportion of which must have been in a B2B technology environment
  • Experience in sole ownership of a marketing function and demonstrable ability to drive new marketing initiatives for breakthrough technologies
  • Market knowledge of wireless technologies
  • Experience in managing large (six figure) budgets
  • Experience of taking products through the full development cycle
  • Experience of writing stunning copy for a range of audiences and channels (both on and offline)
  • Experience of sourcing and managing external suppliers, including PR agencies, publishers and graphics / marketing communications providers
  • Experience in leveraging industry events to contribute towards thought leadership objectives
  • Experience in managing exhibition stands at large industry events

Highly desirable:

  • Experience of the telecoms or ICT sector
